About Me

I enjoy working with people.  I strongly feel as humans we seek to connect, and it is through our connections to others that we experience difficulties, but it is also how we can heal ourselves and evolve.

I am a qualified counsellor and registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists. I have worked in paid and voluntary roles with individuals, classes and within varying local groups for over twenty years through different education and community settings.  My roles evolved and changed into providing mentoring and counselling, with people of all ages and backgrounds, from children in school settings to supporting adults in an agency setting and within private practice.

My various roles have given me experience in working with different issues, such as bereavement, anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, trauma, depression, work related difficulties, long term illness, school anxieties, personal development, family and relationship problems.

My Approach

I work integratively within a framework of person-centred, psychodynamic and pro-active approaches.  This means we work with what you may bring to a session in the here and now, centering on you as a unique individual and when helpful for you we may reflect on past experiences you choose to share. Befriending our inner world, identifying how we feel in our thoughts and in our bodies can help us to meet ourselves where we are at, but also to begin to facilitate healthy control of ourselves, our behaviours and to discover and explore new solutions.

I work at your pace and my intention with each individual I work alongside is to develop a relationship that facilitates trust, curiosity, change and self-empowerment.
