About Diana

I am a registered and accredited member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists and an EMDR Europe Accredited Practitioner. I can help by offering a space in which you can discuss whatever it is you want to bring providing individual support to be effective in your life. Try talking and develop an awareness that enables you to consider choices and changes that are meaningful for you. I am qualified to work with individual young people and adults.

My approach
I work integratively within a framework of person-centred, pyschodynamic and pro-active approaches. This means we work with what you bring to a session in the here and now, centring on you as a unique individual and when helpful we reflect on past experiences to see how they relate to choices today. Befriending our inner world helps us to meet ourselves where we are at but also facilitates healthy changes to discover and explore fresh solutions. In my work I use concepts from Internal Family Systems and somatics to explore what our bodies are carrying.
EMDR therapy is an integrative Psychotherapy which is highly effective at dealing with trauma and other issues. Disturbing events are not just experienced through talk so we can enhance repair by working with our mind, body and emotions. EMDR processes memories and experiences so we remember events but no longer re-experience them. EMDR helps us link up adaptive more helpful thoughts and feelings instead of being caught in negative, charged thoughts and feelings all the time. This helps to conclude stress cycles that related to different life experiences that have been challenging and impactful for us.
I work at your pace and my intention is to develop a relationship that fosters curiosity, change and self-empowerment through supportive challenge.

Therapies
I can provide long and short term therapy for individuals using talking therapy and/or EMDR. I have experience working with a wide variety of issues. Some of the areas I work with are :

trauma, painful life events, anxiety, emotional distress, grief and loss, men's mental well-being, personal development, low self-esteem, stress, school anxieties, work related difficulties, long-term health challenges, birth trauma, pain, family and relationship problems.

Psychotherapy - this underpins all the other therapies by offering a confidential space for you to be curious, explore and gain understanding and increase awareness through talk. Past experiences can give us templates about how we see ourselves and we can review what we are ready to let go of what we might wish to refine and tweak and what we are ready to actively change. I encourage connection to body communication as well as thoughts, behaviours, and emotions to increase self-knowledge. Sessions can be an hour or ninety minutes.

EMDR - Is much more than only the bi-lateral moves or eye movements - it is an integrative therapy that is very effective within the scaffold of wider psychotherapy. EMDR involves relationship building, history taking, boosting self-resources for regulation and care, preparation work, agreeing focus targets to work on, evaluation and integrating changes into our world view and daily life. Sessions for EMDR can be most effective when they are ninety minutes long to give supportive challenge compared to the therapy hour, but this would be reviewed and discussed collaboratively. Clients can work for a therapy hour with EMDR. Information can be explored at https://emdrassociation.org.uk/.

EMDR Intensives - Concentrated therapy sessions take place over two or three days which require detailed preparation beforehand, focused processing blocks and follow-up. This can be useful for clients seeking a supportive space to lean into difficult emotional work in contrast to weekly sessions. Suitability for this approach would be assessed before a plan of work was collaborated upon and agreed.

Walk and talk - Side by side walking therapy providing movement, connection to the outdoors and exercise. Being in nature can improve mood and it can feel freeing to speak with the rhythm of walking. For adult clients and limited spaces to Thursdays only.

Session costs start from £80 an hour.
